These moccasins from Darlingtonia are my new obsession. I have 2 pairs already, and I am planning a third. I wear mine primarily around the house, and outside to and from my work studio. They are holding up great. According to the designer they should last about 6 months with extensive wear outside and everywhere, or a year or longer with lighter use. I know people that have had their Minnetonka moccasins (it's the same suede sole) for years, and even worn them in the rain!
This pair of handmade Darlingtonia Moccasins features a burgundy
body, vanilla flowers and matching insole with natural colored lacing
available in women’s whole sizes 5-11. Please see below for the return policy on Darlingtonia.
Material:
These moccasins are made of suede leather, which will stretch and
shape to your foot with wear. They come with a soft cushioned 3/8 inch
(1 cm) thick insole made from a super comfy eco-friendly closed cell
foam. These moccasins are softsoled, which means they have no hard sole
only leather. The bottom of the shoes is the same leather as the rest of
the shoe.
The color of your moccasins may vary slightly from your computer screen. Please be aware the dye used to color the suede may stain your feet or socks, especially if they become wet (there’s no way around this, and it drives me crazy too!) This normally goes away over time.
Method of Construction:
All Darlingtonia moccasins are sewn using a completely manual
antique Singer 29k sewing machine equipped with a foot treadle. All
holes punched and pattern pieces cut are done one at a time by hand.
Using needle & thread along with leather cement each pair of
moccasins comes together and gets laced up using cotton cording.
Turnaround Time:
It takes between 7 to 14 days to make your moccasins & get them in the mail.
Sizing:
Please make sure to measure your foot naked or socked depending on how you will most often wear your moccasins. (if you plan on wearing socks with your moccasins you may want to go up a size.)
Place your foot on a measuring device, on a hard surface or floor. Stand up and note measurement from the tip of your longest toe to your heel.
Another method is to stand on a blank piece of paper, on a hard surface, stand up and make a mark at the tip of your longest toe and at your heel. Remove your foot and measure between the lines.
Be sure to measure from you heel to your LONGEST toe.
Between sizes? Take into consideration weather you prefer your shoes snug or with extra room. Decide weather you would like to go up or down a size based on your shoe snugness preference.
****Please note that these moccasins are custom made just for you and are not available for return/exchange unless there is a manufacturer defect. If you follow the size chart above you will end up with a perfectly fitting shoe, made just for you! They are suede, so they will mold to your foot in no time.****
